Asian countries are confronted with diverse environmental problems related to water quality, water resources, irrigation water use and the river basin ecosystems. The Gifu University Rearing Program for Basin Water Environmental Leaders (BWEL program) aims at fostering graduate students as environmental leaders who comprehend these environmental problems with a broad outlook, and are capable of planning and conducting the strategic solution and prevention.
To achieve the goal, we organize an educational program provided by organic unity of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Energy Engineering and Department of Agricultural and Environmental Science of Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Engineering diviison of the Graduate School of Engineering, the course of Science of Biological Environment of The United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, and River Basin Research Center. Our program is further enhanced by special lectures and internship programs provided by leading experts of the related research fields from Asian countries. Our unique program is highly specialized as well as being practical, with which students acquire both expertise and broad perspective of river basin environments, and international communication, presentation and cooperation skills.
Students who satisfy the requirements of the graduate course are awarded the certificate of completion of the BWEL program.
